Illegal use of Bellwood Street
Councillor Matthew Bourke has provided the following update (29 January 2010) on the situation regarding the illegal use of Bellwood Street.
"At the last SPRPA meeting which I attended, I was asked to make representations to the Police regarding the illegal use of the Bellwood Street bollards.
I made representations on behalf of the SPRPA to the Oxley District Traffic Branch at Mt Ommaney regarding this matter, outlining the fact that the bollards are regularly damaged and motorists constantly ignore the fact that it is a busway.
I have received a response from the Officer in Charge stating that the Police have attended this location on several occasions, however no offences were detected. They did say not to hesitate to contact them again if the issue is not resolved with the reinstatement of the bollards.
I will continue to monitor this situation and I appreciate the associations' input into keeping the roads in our suburbs safer.
